About Mahoning Valley Local

Born and raised in Youngstown, OH, I’ve spent most of my life inside the Mahoning Valley. During these years I watched as our town struggled, I’ve watched it revitalize and I’ve seen many businesses come and go.

Through all of this, there was one constant…

…one thing that keeps the Valley strong…

…the PEOPLE.

People make our community great. We come together and support each other regardless of good times and bad. We are families and neighbors that love our town and love the history. We are the Mahoning Valley and we LOVE it here!

It’s this love and support that inspired me to give back to my community, specifically the local businesses that make our community so special. It can be difficult to compete with the big chains that come and go in our town, but these local family businesses push on and continue to deliver top notch service to our community.

There are two ways to find information on the Web, either by searching or browsing. Your bigger national chains can be hard to compete with when it comes to searching, giving an unfair advantage to a small business. To level the playing field for our small businesses, I’ve created a local directory.

Unlike search engines, which base results on a database of entries gathered automatically by web-crawlers, most web directories are built manually by human editors… like me.  This directory will allow business owners to submit their site for inclusion and have editors review submissions for the appropriate fit. Entries may be listed for free, or by paid submission to utilize additional features or help a business stand-out more in the listings.

My hope is that our community will use this listing when browsing for food, services, or anything else that local business owners provide. In this way we can pull together as a community, like we always do, to support our valley and our local businesses.
